"Use Forty Creek whiskey. But if you're lost in a desert and you only have Gibsons or Wiser's, then you can use either of those. If you have anything from Seagram's, kill yourself."
- This is a built drink. Put the ice in the lowball glass. Use only a lowball or a coffee mug. Actually use anything including your cupped hands if someone else is pouring.
- Pour the Forty Creek into the shot glass right up to the top so you can see the surface tension. That's 2 ounces. The bigger the meniscus, the better the drink will be. Tip the contents into the glass.
- Now tip a single shot of vermouth into the glass. Don't spill a single drop.
- Using a teaspoon, fish two maraschino cherries out of the jar and bring a bit of the sugar syrup along.
- Tip that into the glass.
- Stir it up with your little finger, then lick said finger clean because - waste not want not.
- Wait a good 4 to 7 seconds before taking that first sip, because a perfect Manhattan such as this will be better if you first mellow the alcohol by letting the ice melt a bit.

All in all, the original recipe is not too bad except as always, I prefer the "church cookbook style" to the the modern recipe format. In this case, I removed the history of risotto, of rice, and of Italy. Removed photos showing how to pour peas into an Instant Pot. I also removed the social media links and the ads shilling yet another cookbook. Coverted relevant parts to metric and by some miracle, made a 250 word recipe fit on a single printable page!
