1. January 4, 2025: Irish Morning Smoothie (main dish, snack) "Surprisingly craic for how simple and fast it is."
2. March 21, 2023: Instant Pot Vegan Risotto (w/optional endive) (main dish, side dish) "If you cannot find optional endives at your market, then use mandatory ones. So do.
So then line two ONWARDS of the description doesn't appear on the front recipes card but DOES appear as unprintable at the bottom of the recipe sheet? YES!
Yes?

3. March 9, 2023: Spaghetti with Chicken Livers (main dish) "This is a first. A good recipe. Just 5 ingredients and perfect out of the gate! I did nothing here but translate it into English."
4. December 31, 2022: Little Roasted Cabbages (main dish, side dish) "I just realized it's Brussels sprouts and not brussel sprouts. The more you know."
5. September 27, 2022: Pasta with Cabbage and Beans (main dish) "Zoo Wee Mama! That's-a some-a good-a pasta!
This one was taken from Greger's seminal cookbook - the How Not to Diet Cookbook. I've learned that even if a cookbook is utter shit, there will still be one or two recipes that work - with corrections. This is one of those.
If you enjoy bland, tasteless crap with unnecessary steps to make it, then by all means, cook up the original. (If you can even find cavolo nero - I had to look it up because I had no idea what it was) Greger is a genius but he aint no cook!"
6. September 11, 2022: Simplest Fennel Soup (main dish) "Delicious and it doesn't get any easier than this.
Why the original recipe sucks.
The original recipe is a GREAT example of why I created this site:
- The ingredients are way out of order.
- It calls for 1.1 pounds of fennel bulb, which is pretty exact, but then for 1 stalk of celery, which is not.
- The instructions are shit.
- Don't tell me in the recipe to wash my vegetables. That's a given. You're not my mother. You might as well tell me also to be careful with the knife.
- Fennel seeds ... why?! Why go to the store to locate fucking fennel seeds when you're putting an entire goddamn fennel bulb in the soup? Will a 1/2 tsp of seeds really make a difference?
- Seasoning with salt when you add the veg to the oil. This wrecks the oil. Adding the pepper is OK, but leave the salt until after you've added the (salty) stock or even leave it out and add it at the very end, after pureeing.
- Nowhere does the original recipe tell you to reserve the fronds to use as garnish at the end.
- Butter and olive oil is unnecessary, just like the seeds. Just use oil.
- After saute-ing for 5 minutes, the instructions tell you to then 'sweat' the vegetables for another 10 minutes (without browning mind you - browning is the crime of the century here.) It's almost hilarious.
- Cooking the spinach for a minute as directed is unnecessary. Put it in the hot soup and it will wilt in less than a minute.
- White pepper? Give me a break.

7. April 22, 2022: One Pot Sausage and Broccoli Pasta (main dish) "Not a bad original recipe - almost 5 stars right out of the gate. I'm sure as I refine it, it'll gain that last star.
I left the pepper flakes out and put it on the table as an option so everyone could enjoy equally."
8. March 14, 2021: The Absolute Best Lentil Soup (main dish) "It really is the best.
Just as good from frozen as when fresh."
9. November 28, 2020: The Perfect Rye Manhattan (dessert, main dish) "Use Forty Creek whiskey. But if you're lost in a desert and you only have Gibsons or Wiser's, then you can use either of those. If you have anything from Seagram's, kill yourself.
And while Martini vermouth is good, Dolin de Chambery is even more delightful if you can obtain it."
10. November 26, 2020: Sweet Potato Taco (main dish) "This is another Hemingway original! It's also nothing like an actual taco."
11. November 21, 2020: Canadian Yellow Split Pea Soup with Ham (main dish) "Better than Habitant. Even better the day after preparing. Perfect for freezing."
12. November 19, 2020: Tofu Scramble (main dish) "A Hemingway original. Use as a filling for a breakfast burrito or serve on its own with toast and/or beans and/or potatoes."
13. November 17, 2020: Baked Beans (main dish, side dish) "Simple and Easy. A great main dish or side."
14. November 17, 2020: Roasted Veg (main dish, side dish) "Another original, happy accident. This was originally part of a Tofurky dinner. We ended up throwing out the Tofurky and eating this roast veg as the main course."
16. November 1, 2020: Oven-roasted Miso Squash (main dish, side dish) "This isn't a fixed recipe; it's all mine and it's easier and quicker than anything you'll find online."
17. October 29, 2020: Root Vegetable Soup (main dish) "Great for using up those veggies in your fridge.
Serving suggestion: Top with a drizzle of olive oil, a few drops of lemon juice, crushed chile flakes and/or grated parmesan.
